OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing RSPO’s presence in Europe by expanding RSPO’s stakeholder network and servicing existing ones.

 

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Head of European Operations, you will be responsible for

  • Engage with key stakeholders within Europe, primarily potential members and stakeholders that have the ability to drive market transformation. This includes identifying and/or engaging RSPO Ambassadors.
  • Maintain a knowledge of regional economic and business trends to facilitate conversations with stakeholders.
  • Support in identifying key risk areas to the organization in the region and to handle these issues both proactively - and reactively where necessary.
  • Identify and participate in platforms that are strategic to the RSPO mandate, with relevant stakeholders from members, media, corporations etc.
  • Device and deploy a marketing plan for the RSPO Trademark based on in-market conditions
  • Manage external service providers who provide market and business development services and engaged by RSPO in the region

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

  • You should have at least a Bachelors degree, with a minimum of 8 years of sound experience in sales and / or business development in Europe   
  • Together with excellent communication skills, you should also have a proven track record of working with international stakeholders.

FINANCE & ADMINISTRATIVE EXECUTIVE

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

The successful candidate will be responsible in ensuring that the day to day finance & administrative functions are performed diligently ensuring smooth office operations

 

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. ACCOUNTS AND FINANCE

  • Performing day to day processing of payment and receivable transactions.
  • Assist in data entry and preparation of monthly reporting to finance team in Malaysia.
  • Assist to oversee and control budget allocations and uses..
  • Assist project executors in preparing financial reports both to RSPO and/or external funding bodies.

2. MEMBERSHIP ADMINISTRATION

  • Co-ordinate with membership department in Malaysia in connection with all  aspects of the membership functions and to maintain continual contact with members in Latin America.
  • Assist in delivering and follow up payments of invoices and official receipts.
  • Assist in membership fee collection.

3. LOGISTICS

  • Assist and/or coordinate with the LATAM Director, Managers and other regional offices in coordinating  logistics for all RSPO events/projects locally and overseas.

4. ADMINISTRATIVE

  • To ensure all contracts, documents, proposals etc are maintained in accordance to internal controls and processes.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, service providers, and landlord, ensuring that all items are invoiced and paid on time.
  • Manage contract and price negotiations with office vendors, service providers and office lease.Responsible to support company operations by maintaining office and administrative systems in order to ensure organizational effectiveness, efficiency and safety.
  • Ensuring the RSPO office in Colombia is continuously maintained in a manner befitting an international conducive workplace.

You should have at least a Bachelors Degree in Finance & Accounting or it’s equivalent, with a minimum of 3 - 5 years working experience in Finance functions.

SMALLHOLDERS PROJECT MANAGER

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

The Smallholder Manager will be responsible to develop, manage and execute projects related to smallholders’ development program in Indonesia. Focussing on supporting RSPO’s goal towards increased production of RSPO certified sustainable palm oil keeping line at all times with the objectives of the RSPO Smallholder Strategy.

 

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To manage and ensure the implementation of RSPO’s Smallholder Development Programs are in line with the Smallholder Strategy’s goal and objectives. This includes planning, budgeting, reporting, monitoring and supervision of staff and external consultants.
  • Coordinating and facilitating the decision-making process on any issues related to smallholders’ program/activities.
  • To develop & foster relations with stakeholders involved in the Smallholder’s Development program ensuring that relevant targets are met.
  • To oversee and link RSPO with other stakeholder initiatives on smallholder development projects/programs, where relevant.
  • Establish and set up linking and learning platforms that promote Smallholder exchange of knowledge and information.
  • To ensure development and maintenance of accessible data/information on RSPO certified smallholders in Indonesia.
  • Ensure response to members’ inquiries on matters related to smallholders’ issues/matters is handled and responded in a timely manner.

 

FUNDAMENTALS OF THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

Academic Qualifications & Professional Experience

  • Degree in the field of Sociology, Environmental Management or Community Development.
  • More than 7 years’ experience in managerial level in relevant organization or company.
  • Working experience in palm oil industry is an advantage.

ENONCE DU POSTE

Le titulaire du poste devra assister le Directeur Technique en Afrique au quotidien pour tout ce qui concerne les membres de RSPO, les questions techniques, les relations aux petits propriétaires et la chaine logistique, sans oublier le rayonnement de l’organisation.

MISSIONS

  • Assister le Directeur Technique en aidant les membres de RSPO dans la région (notamment les francophones) sur les questions techniques liées à la norme et l’accréditation RSPO (accréditation P&C (principes et critères) et accréditation de la chaine logistique).
  • Assister dans leur travail le Comité Permanent de la Norme et l’Accréditation (S&CSC) et le Comité Permanent du Commerce et de la Traçabilité (T&TSC) de RSPO, en charge de guider les candidats aux accréditations P&C et chaine logistique pas à pas.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCES ESSENTIELLES

Formation :

Etre titulaire au moins d’une Licence en Gestion des Ressources Naturelles, Sciences/Gestion de l’Environnement, Agriculture, Gestion forestière ou tout autre domaine lié.

Connaissances Techniques & Expérience :

  • Au moins 3 ans d’expérience dans l’industrie de l’huile de palme.
  • Connaissance approfondie du secteur/de l’industrie de l’huile de palme en Afrique.
  • Au moins 3 ans d’expérience dans la mise en place de plans d’accréditation pour les produits agricoles. Une expérience démontrable et des connaissances sur les mesures mises en place par RSPO sont un atout.

Compétences techniques :

The Technical Manager will be responsible to providing advice and inputs of strategic and policy significance to facilitate decision making.

 

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand, support and keep track of technical developments related to the RSPO Principles and Criteria (P&C) and Supply Chain Certification System (SCCS).
  • Regional point of contact for technical issues pertaining RSPO P&Cs and SCCS.
  • Collaborate and assist other RSPO offices to develop, fine tune and maintain information on the RSPO website.
  • Provide support for RSPO members, or potential non-members seeking certification.
  • Provide support, where possible, for certification bodies approved to certify against the SCCS and the RSPO P&C.
  • Facilitate effective communications between different stakeholder groups across geographical locations.
  • Develop industry thought leadership from various sources e.g. Government Agencies, Palm Oil Associations, Educational Institutions for knowledge sharing of best practices to the members and general public.

RISK MANAGEMENT & MONITORING MANAGER

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

The Risk Management & Monitoring Manager shall develop and institute a transparent and robust system for monitoring quality of compliance to RSPO standards, procedures and systems, and manage the implementation of all aspects of monitoring, including developing relevant procedures, frameworks, processes and tools to identify, assess, measure, manage, monitor and report risks based on a risk management approach.

 

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible to

  • Develop and execute monitoring plans
  • Develop and establish robust procedures, frameworks and/or systems for ‘reactive’ monitoring and reporting on:
    1. Compliance of ‘RSPO Respondents’
    2. Specific investigation (field and/or desktop) as and when required
    3. RSPO members’ adherence to required procedures
  • Develop and establish robust and comprehensive ‘proactive’ monitoring and reporting framework and/or systems on:
    1. Risk-based monitoring of key areas in alignment with the Quality Management System of the RSPO
    2. Risk identification and evaluation related to RSPO,
    3. Report or referral process and procedure of any high risks profile/case/trends
    4. Potential risks associated with underperforming or non-performing assessors or auditors 
  • Ensure effective implementation of developed ‘reactive’ and ‘proactive’ monitoring and reporting procedures, and framework through close collaboration with the GIS and Investigation desks. 
  • Lead the process for developing relevant risk policies and procedures. Key activities of the risk management function should include:
    1. Continuously assessing and/or measuring RSPO’s exposure to identified risks (vice versa) and related responsibilities and responses required
    2. Establishing and implementing an early warning/trigger system and ensuing procedures
    3. Influencing and proposing appropriate risk mitigation actions
  • Assist the COO to coordinate activities by the internal Crisis Response Team (CRT).

ASSISTANT TECHNICAL MANAGER, AFRICA

RSPO is a not-for-profit, membership-based organization that develops and implements global standards for sustainable palm oil, with a Vision to “transform markets to make sustainable palm oil the norm”. With Africa being a frontier for oil palm expansion, and an emerging market for palm oil, the RSPO seeks to build an Africa-based team that advances the Vision of the RSPO in the region.

 

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
The incumbent will provide on-going support to the Technical Manager in Africa in areas of technical matters, smallholder strategy, supply chain & membership as well as assisting in carrying out relevant outreach activities. 

 

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist to provide support to RSPO’s constituents (especially those in Francophone areas) in the region on technical issues pertaining to RSPO Standards and Certification, both on the RSPO Principles & Criteria (P&C) and supply chain certification.
  • Support and keep track of technical developments related to the RSPO Principle & Criteria (P&C) and supply chain certification in Africa.
  • Provide support for RSPO members seeking certification as well as accredited certification bodies seeking advice in the conduct of certifications.
  • Monitor RSPO member progress towards fulfilling the RSPO's objectives through frequent progress reporting updates.
  • Assist in the facilitation of RSPO’s awareness activities for stakeholders, as well as handle enquiries from stakeholders in Africa.
  • Contribute in the preparation of draft policies and proposals developed in terms of scope, budget, policy.
  • Assist in project management support to working groups in the form of logistics coordination and secretarial services as well as ensure periodic updates across all projects to multiple stakeholders.

  • Communicate and engage with relevant stakeholders, including companies, government institutions, NGOs, and smallholders in coordination with the Outreach & Engagement Department.

  • Ensure development and maintenance of an easily accessible knowledge base on the RSPO standard and its associated requirements (i.e. HCV, compensation mechanism, New Planting Procedures, certification, etc.) for Africa.

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

The successful candidate will be responsible to assist the Outreach & Engagement Manager in managing RSPO’s outreach activities in the United States. Ensuring that RSPO’s communication is strategic and coherent whilst coordinating and engaging with stakeholders to ensure that communication meets public expectations and needs.

 

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Outreach & Engagement Manager for the USA, your duties will onclude but not be limited to the following:

  • Coordinate and/or support the coordination of RSPO events in United States and potentially Canada which will include the planning and logistics, management of speakers and delegates, production of marketing materials, social media content and multi-media reports.
  • Support the planning and implementation of all media/communication campaigns and to promote the RSPO trademark in NORAM in alignment with RSPO’s global activities.
  • Coordinate and/or support the production and dissemination of RSPO’s Regional & Local communication material.
  • Gather, organize and draft information to enable RSPO to respond to media requests and crisis management.
  • Assist with research and production of materials for presentations and/or interviews by the RSPO spokesperson.
  • Ensure members are supported with timely and accurate information and services.
  • Maintain and regularly update stakeholder database for key countries in North America in accordance with the strategic plan for outreach and engagement.
